Allen Street: Over Before It Starts

From time to time, we hear clever real estate people talk about the potential of Allen Street to become the Park Avenue of downtown Manhattan. Alas, it appears that bar entrepreneurs are a step ahead in bringing a touch of the Upper East Side downtown. A Curbed reader sends the above photo, noting,

I thought you might be interested to know the contruction crew is putting the finishing touches on a new bar next-door to my apartment on Allen just above Delancey (it was some boarded-up old storefront). Of note is that it is across the street from that multi-million dollar monstrosity that is 115 Allen.All we need now are hordes of drunken fratboys and the hood'll really be poppin'!
