Philippe Starck Will Not Be Stopped

Newsday becomes the latest publication to give into the magic of Philippe Starck's downtown pleasure palace at 23 Wall Street, going so far as to work the phrase "Vision of Eden" into a headline. Selected quotes from the great one:

1) "My idea is to bring happiness, respect, vision, poetry, surrealism, magic - these are not values you find in Wall Street. Here is the center of the world, but it's also hell, so I want to create paradise."
2) "This is the first lighthouse for the - how do you say, the first people who arrived in Massachusetts? - the pilgrims of downtown New York."
3) "Now, for the first time downtown, you will see the girlfriends, the wives and the children."

Jeez. Has anyone told J. P. Morgan?
