Months after being ousted as title sponsors of what became The Hotel on Rivington, Surface Magazine remains in a state of delusion about its role in the enterprise. Reports the San Francisco Chronicle,
And there will be plenty more parties to come, beginning with the opening of the magazine's latest foray into what Klein calls "dimensionalizing the Surface brand": a glass and aluminum high-rise hotel on Manhattan's newly gentrified Lower East Side. Originally called the Surface Hotel (the name was changed to Hotel Rivington after the magazine ended its partnership with developer Paul Stallings), it features an international all-star roster of designers plucked from the pages of Surface.The article also contains this tidbit: "The hotel... is now scheduled to open officially in the spring." Wish someone had told mom.
