Today's opening day for the Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse (named for the eponymous Boys and Girls Club, not the neighborhood) in which New York's top interior decorators do up rooms in an Upper East Side manse for your gawking pleasure. Should you find it scary to find Tom Filicia now counted among these best-and-brightest, fear not: so do all the other decorators. Us, we'll be making a beeline to Scott Snyder's French Empire dining room, which the Times Home section describes as "so self-consciously out of step with the rest of the show house that his work might be an installation piece at the Whitney Biennial." The anti-reality show look! It's gonna be so fall 2004!
