New MoMA: Straight, But Not Narrow

The Times' Sara Boxer tours the new midtown MoMa, scheduled to open in November after a spiffy little $425 million renovation, with director Glenn Lowry. The design, by architect Yoshio Taniguchi (his first commission outside Japan), is described, as blogger greg.org points out, as straight?"630,000 square feet of straight walls, floors and ceilings"?but not narrow! Writes Boxer, "It has given up the idea that the history of modern art is a straight course, a simple, triumphant narrative." What that means for you: 400% more chances to get lost.
