NYMag sex columnist Amy Sohn writes on her personal website about her apartment hunting experience: "For the last eight Sundays we have been going to open houses in brownstone Brooklyn and seeing total crap that is overpriced and mediocre. We have done this in rain and on sunny days when we should have been out in the park. I find the openhouse ritual one of the most bizarre of bourgeois rituals, the shmoozing and happy couples (even though I'm in one) and the dumb banter and the sign-in sheets and pushy brokers. They always ask me to spell my name for them and they always spell it wrong and then I get really upset and want to cry."
