Whitney Plays Piano for Expansion

The Whitney Museum announced yesterday that it's hired aging architectural great Renzo Piano to create new gallery, educational and public spaces on its East 74th Street block?a plan significantly less bold than the Rem Koolhaas expansion the museum junked last year.

Blogger Miss Representation, for one, isn't bowled over by the choice: "It certainly seems to be a good time to be a name architect with a fading, repetitive oeuvre, but aren't there, oh, a hundred or so firms out there that maybe are deserving of this commission?"
