The New Nobu

The NYT pulls back the curtain on Nobu 57, the new Nobu branch at 40 West 57th Street, slated to open next May. Says designer David Rockwell, "When you enter, a two-story curved sculpture will rise to the upper ceiling like a wave. The ground level will have a polished stone floor with a wavelike pattern suggesting water. Wood, metal and wicker banquettes, inspired by Japanese fishing baskets at Next Door Nobu, will surround the dining room. All your fellow patrons will look like anime characters." (Disclaimer: We may have made that last sentence up.)
