The Magical Design Kingdom of Manhattan

We're struck again this morning by how design-crazy twentysomethings seem to inhabit a different New York City than the rest of us. One young man (a former Nest intern, natch) finds a steer's head on Mercer Street just perfect for a wall in his new Lower East Side apartment. Another hardy soul "bought 12 yards of silk for $60 on West 39th Street and asked his landlord's mother to sew them into curtains, which she agreed to do, free." Meantime, a recent first-time visitor to our apartment had this to say: "I think my grandmother has that couch!"
