Governors Island Burger King Update

Regarding NYC's forgotten Burger King on Governors Island, a Curbed reader reports:

I did the Saturday Gov's Island Tour. The Burger King is not accessible, and the Rangers/staff are very insistent that you do not wander off into non-approved areas of the island. There are numerous warning signs and security guards.

The walking tour focuses on various well-tended historic buildings, and not the detritus of 30 years of Coast Guard occupation. The 1 mile esplanade is also accessible, with fantastic views of lower Manhattan, The Statue of Liberty, and Jersey City. You can bring your own food for a picnic; water and soda is available for sale.

Water and soda, but no BK Fish Filet? This is progress?
