505 Court Street: The View From 1982

A Curbed reader offers some historical perspective on 505 Court Street. Imagine yourself back in 1982, when apartments were, you know, affordable:

This building was marketed as coops in 1982 -- we looked at it and liked a first floor 1000 sq. ft apartment facing the courtyard but were concerned about the subway (Smith 9th) safety then. Prices were comparable to others in terms of the space/amenities (probably about $65-70K for a one bedroom). They couldn't sell them so the cooperative never became effective. I always thought this could be a great building... good views form top floors and large loft-like apartments...
