The Fed raised interest rates another quarter-point this afternoon, but mortgage rates aren't climbing as fast as projected. Reports real estate news purveyor Inman News, "More than halfway through 2004, it seems unlikely that interest rates will hit that 7 percent mark as originally predicted... Perhaps the worry of significantly higher interest rates this year was simply a myth." (New best guesses for end-of-year mortgage rates? Between 6.25% and 6.7%.)
