Eat/Drink Notebook

Three hours on the Upper East Side, and we're ready for a drink.

1) CityRag reports that a new bar, The Dark Room, is opening in the old Ludlow Bar space at 165 Ludlow Street on the Lower East Side (N.B. open bar 8-10pm).
2) Blogger Manhattan Transfer gets into the High Line spirit, dining at trendy new Meatpacking hotspot Highline: "The rain kept on, and so we tried to wait it out over another bottle of wine. And then another. I couldn't believe that it could rain that heavily for that long. And I shouldn?t have. What I was looking at wasn't rain at all. It was a fucking indoor waterfall that cascaded down the window directly across from me."
3) New NYC food blog The Hot Plate samples the latest from Wylie Dufresne at WD-50, including the thin calf's tongue we mentioned earlier this week: "There is no other word to describe this deconstructed tongue sandwich other than scrumptious. Even the non-tongue eaters agreed that they had never envisioned that mayo could take the form of something so utterly delicate in taste and texture."
4) In Hell's Kitchen, blogger eugonline notes the passing of the Munson Diner [via Gothamist].
