Allen Street, the Lower East Side boulevard referred to by some (presumably intoxicated) people as "Park Avenue for Plain People" has a fresh spring in its step. Late last year, the local community board added signs christening the byway as Avenue of the Immigrants. Applauds Tale of Two Cities, "No matter how affluent the street becomes there will still be a sparkling reminder of days gone by, and we're not talking about the pool boy working for below minimum wage."
