Score one for the preservationists: the City Council yesterday approved Far West Village downzoning, a move that will effectively prevent out-of-scale buildings inland from West Street. (Two carved-out exceptions, as previously noted—the Superior Ink site and Whitehall Storage Building—remain unaffected by this move.)
The GVSHP crows that the decision may stymie plans for a development at 393 West 12th Street. Wait, that's the Christian de Portzamparc steaming pile (above), isn't it? (Hmmm, Villager says 385 West 12th. Same site?) Seems the real losers here, as always, are the starchitects.
