The latest plan* to fix the World Trade Center redevelopment mess: get Mayor Bloomberg more involved in the process. With Pataki soon to exit the stage, urbanist blogger Polis thinks Bloomberg's involvement can move things in the right direction—"From previous statements, Blooomberg has demonstrated that he has the right instincts about what needs to happen there, which is to create a lively neighborhood that also respects the lives that were lost." Color us skeptics. We'd wager that even the billion-dollar mayor is likely to be no match for the billion-dollar developer, though we'd love to be proven wrong.
