Who knew that a simple e-mail about a series of fast food closings on 31st Street in Ditmars/Astoria would lead to such a chain of events? After delving deeper into the controversy over race, gentrification and coffee, we happened on a completely new scandal: the Fresco Tortillas/Fresca Tortilla identity thievery. And now, thanks to Dan Dickinson's photo log, we're back to the beginning of this whole mess: the fire that claimed McDonald's, Twin Donuts, the optical store and the pizza-and-panini-selling Thirty One cafe. Well, we think that was all the same fire: we're really, really fucking confused. Does Queens have this effect on anyone else?
