2 Columbus Circle: Going, Going, Lunch!

Did we say the preservation battle at 2 Columbus Circle was over? Oops, silly us. Landmark West is trudging on with its mission to save the jeopardized facade from the clutches of the Museum of Arts and Design, to the benefit of the city's hungry. Confused? This email should explain everything:

Join us for a LUNCHTIME DEMONSTRATION in support of a public landmark designation hearing for 2 COLUMBUS CIRCLE ***Brown Bag Lunch Provided! Just Bring Yourself, a Friend or Two, and Your Marching Feet!*** WHEN: Thursday, October 6, 2005, starting at 11:45 AM till at least 2:00 PM
WHERE: In front of the Center for Architecture, 536 LaGuardia Place (between Bleecker and W. 3rd
Street, take the A, B, C, D, E, F or V train to W. 4th Street, walk east along W. 3rd Street until
you get to LaGuardia Place and turn right)
RSVP: landmarkwest@landmarkwest.org; 212-496-8110.

Here's why... On Thursday, the Center for Architecture/AIA New York Chapter will sponsor a private reception for the "opening" of the new Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) at 2 Columbus Circle. Let MAD, the AIA and their guests know that they don't speak for you or the other thousands who believe that 2 Columbus deserves a hearing - just a hearing!

Ah, Landmark West: even their protests are RSVP-only.
