Frank Gehry's forthcoming performing arts center at the World Trade Center site, already indefinitely delayed, looks like it may get Freedom Center'd (née Drawing Center'd). David Dunlap reports in the Times that at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation board meeting yesterday, he got the inkling that?since construction costs are rising?the performing arts center might have to duke it out with the memorial for funds. And really who doesn't love a good memorial? Yeesh, Frank hasn't been teased like this since Bruce Ratner brought his flat-backed brush to the sleepover last weekend.
Also at the board meeting?which sounded like a really awesome time, by the way?the directors approved a $10 million divorce settlement with the ousted Drawing Center. They get to keep the cat, however.
