Interpreting the East Side Police Booths

Since we here at Curbed Central are always getting mysterious and poorly written e-mail from "Kofi Annan" (what? you don't actually read your spam?), we noted with interest a TimeOutNY item this week mentioning the U.N. Secretary-General's address as 3 Sutton Place, near East 57th St. Now we know where to send the money he keeps asking us for in those messages! The magazine blurb was actually about those little police booths you see in some tony East Side blocks: Turns out they're for guarding the riskier or more important of the foreign embassies, including of course Kofi's own four-story pad. If they'd only mentioned this in The Interpreter, it totally would've saved that movie.
