Development Du Jour: Zigzag Living in Chelsea

For those tired of having to actually go into the galleries in Chelsea to see some "complex," "irregular," "zigzag" "vitreous splendor," this new Madison Equities development, set to break ground in February at 447 W. 18th St., attempts to bring flashy art to the street. Designed by architect Audrey Matlock, the 47-unit condo sports a multi-angled facade and achieves its required zoning setback at the eighth floor without having to go the traditional wedding-cake route. CityRealty reports that Matlock is considering

openable windows [that] project outward parallel to the facade, letting air in, and out, on all four sides, an approach that would be new to New York. Can you handle the innovation? Do we have a new starchitect on our hands here?
