Without Missing a Beat, NYT Mashes Strike With GMaps

First, they rustle up themselves one of them new-fangled real estate web logs. Next, they get turned on to the Google Maps mashup! The Times is becoming so hip so quick we can hardly breathe. While they still haven't gotten around to doing one for Metropolitan Diary (the original, though less hipsterish, Overheard in New York) like we told them to (!), they've made like the rest of humanity and merged data with an interactive map in the service of transit-strike soundbites from far-flung (and variously annoyed) commuters. (Note the choice of angry-red behind the speech bubbles.) The worker bees behind the operation ("Faneuil Media") appear to be a pair of ex-NYTimes.com-ers who also introduced the Forbesians to the rapture that is click-and-pan browsing.
