Pippin Not to Be Choked Out by Slope's Whole Foods

In a time-honored tradition of the New building around the Old (or Progress bending over backwards for the Holdouts, depending on your perspective), it would appear that the red and white 19th-century building (above) at the corner of 3rd and 3rd in Park Slope near the Gowanus Canal will not have to die to make way for the 47,000sqft Whole Foods Market soon to go up on that block. That's according to some digging peformed by blogger Callalillie in honor of the existing building, which she's dubbed Pippin on Third, after a radiator supply company: "It seems like the gigantic market will rise up around it."

Red-arrowed blueprint evidence after the jump.
