New Jets stadium or no, the city and the MTA are just itching to rustle up some new land. They still want to build a three-block platform over the far West Side railyards, north of 30th St., west of 10th Ave., according to a blurb in today's Daily News. But this time, they're dreaming of far less controversial (in theory) development opportunities: your typical mix of offices and housing, with a 6-acre park thrown in just to show they care. Only 20 months and a $400 million public investment (to be recouped, the parties expect) stand in the way of that great big party deck rocking (not literally, we hope).
