Behold, the Internet Map Wars of 2005 begin anew with Microsoft's launch of its Local Live map product. The basic maps are much like those from old friend Google Maps, but a special button on the left side ("Bird's Eye View Available") converts the image to dazzling satellite aerial views like that seen above—the St. Ann's Church Grace Church site on Broadway in the upper East Village, in this case. Next up from Microsoft: Fremont, its Craigslist/GoogleBase competitor, slated to be announced just about any day now.
