Notes from the burgeoning world of shipping-container contruction: Japanese architect Shigeru Ban's 45,000 sq-ft. Nomadic Museum, which he built out of shipping containers and recycled paper tubes, has made its way from Venice to Pier 54 on the Hudson. The museum will host an exhibit by artist Gregory Colbert beginning March 5. Meanwhile, across the pond, architect Nicholas Lacey is on a mission to put all of England in shipping containers. He's already built offices and a school out of the stuff, and now he's planning a housing complex. "These are funky, fun, unusual buildings," says the development director at one of the office buildings. "You certainly wouldn't know you were in a container."
