West Side Rail Yards Go on the Block

In a stunning, shocking, downright Machevellian twist, the MTA announced yesterday that it's opening up the West Side rail yards to an open bidding process. The decision comes a week after MSG made a play for the site, and sends plans for a new stadium further into what one observer called "a crack den of chaos" (okay, that was us). Notes the NYT, "To stay in the bidding game, the Jets will probably have to offer more than the $100 million they had planned to pay for the area." Emphasis ours?because hey, in this town, you never know!
