Manhattan Valley Rises from Crack Central

More from the land above 96th Street via the 125th Street map in New York (number 28, above, is the Harlem Marriott site.) The magazine also weighs in this week with a report on Manhattan Valley, "the neighborhood between Central Park West and Amsterdam Avenue in the West 100s." Why are prices there still relatively low? "For starters, the area?s an architectural mixed bag. Brownstone blocks give way to housing projects and senior centers; boarded-up buildings contribute to a dodgy vibe, lingering from the area?s days as Crack Central."
