Architect Norman Foster isn't done with New York City just yet. Out on Governors Island, an archipelago which was turned over to the National Park Service last year after centuries as a war-making place, plans are afoot to build a replica of Shakespeare's Globe Theater. Set within the ramparts of the island's crumbling Castle Williams, the Foster-designed, 1,200-person theater would carry the upbeat name The New Globe. The theater is just one of several proposals being considered for the spot, but we have to believe it has the inside edge?after all, there's already a Burger King to feed the hungry patrons. And hey, New Globe supporters have got themselves a spiffy little weblog!
