As part of a push to bring broadband access to low-income users, the NYC City Council and a non-profit called One Economy are moving ahead with plans to wire the city's affordable housing at little or no cost. According to Mark Levine, a One Economy exec who helped push a low-cost-broadband resolution through the Council last month, "Twelve hundred apartments in the Mt. Hope section of the Bronx have been wired for broadband, 200 more are coming online in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, and additional projects are in the early stages of development." No word on the broadband black hole in Red Hook and Williamsburg. Fire up the moving vans!
