While his curvy condos rise in Soho, chic hotelier André Balazs has quietly opened his Lindy Roy-designed midtown budget hotel, Hotel QT. (Balazs appears to have ditched the trippy original name, The 45th Street Why?) Notes Gridskipper guest editor Greg Lindsay, "The hotel, according to New York magazine, 'will have a bar but no restaurant, and, in the words of Balazs, ?there?s going to be very, very, very minimal service.'' Sounds like the Hudson to us." Hotel weblog HotelChatter notes that rooms can currently be had for as low as $99; no word yet on those $50 bunk beds.
