Bowery Blowback: What Does It All Mean?

Unbeige blogger (and Nolita art gallery owner) Jen Bekman responds to the Village Voice's elegy for The Bowery:

Everything I read about all of this development seems to fall loosely into two categories: a) gentrification: bad and b) buidlings: ugly. I agree with the latter, but I must confess I am looking forward to some of the new services that are being brought to the area... I am concerned about all this gentrification, but I have yet to see any articles that really address the concerns I do have. I'm wondering how the population shift is going to effect services, traffic patterns, parking. I wonder what it's going to mean to my gallery.
