East River Redevelopment Update: Clam Shack!

New details have emerged about the East River redevelopment plan that's been undertaken by architect Richard Rogers in conjunction with Ken Smith and SHoP. A wide esplanade will run from Battery Park City to the Lower East Side, and our old friend the FDR Drive will indeed get tarted up. But a rebuilt Pier 15 south of Fulton Street may prove to be the project's trippy apex: "The upper surface of the three-quarter-acre deck would be shaped into hillocks and terraces, covered with landscaped plantings," reports David Dunlap. "A clam shack might even complete this naturalistic scene."
