Speaking of spring restaurant openings, a Curbed reader points us to what may qualify as the wackiest gastronomic event of the season:
After some speculation about whether he'd been trying to get out of the deal, uber-restauranteur Jean-Georges Vongrichten will open a restaurant in the south tower of the maligned Richard Meier buildings on Perry Street this spring. Interior designer Thomas Juul-Hansen, whose resume boasts the David Yurman showroom as well as Vongrichten's own loft apartment, is in charge of designing the 25-seat bar and 60-seat dining room. Menu details have yet to be finalized.Queries our reader, "Do Calvin and Julianne get their own private tables? More importantly, have they fixed the leaking roof yet?"
