As William Neuman reported in Sunday's Times, the Duke Semans House, the Fifth Ave. mansion that tobacco built, is on the market for $50 million. The listing, a joint effort from Corcoran and Brown Harris, describes the place as "simply the finest residence ever to come on the market in New York." With 20,000 sqft spread over eight floors, southeastern corner exposure, Park views, and only one owner in its 104-year history, it's an understandable assertion. Still, as there are no interior pics on either broker's site, we are left to assume that the rugs are littered with cigarette burns.
