Colleagues Reveal Methodology to Bruni's Madness

Last month, in his review of Florent, Frank Bruni hinted at a taste for the sauce. "I went at 2:30 a.m. on a Saturday and chose a juicy, plump cheeseburger on an English muffin as a sponge for too much alcohol earlier on," he wrote. In today's Observer, fellow Timesman Adam Nagourney confirms that Mr. Bruni is indeed drunk most of the time. "He likes steak. He?s one big meat person," Nagourney told Gabriel Sherman. "He likes martinis, too. I noticed this more and more: He likes to order really good off-beaten-path wines. When we go out, he normally does two bottles, one about $40 and the other $70."
