A Lycee Update from a Lycee Mom

After dropping off the kids this morning, a "Lycee mom" cornered a construction worker to get the skinny on the school's water-logged gym. She reports,

In fact, it isn't exactly a 'leak' as in the water is dripping in from somewhere. He said the entire floor is 'sweating' and that it is a problem of too much humidity/moisture with out a place to go. He said the moisture problem was affecting the entire wooden floor- that it was all buckled- and that one solution might be to drill tiny holes in the entire floor to allow the moisture a way to escape.
After the jump, the full text of her missive, including a shocking denial regarding the fare at the spring fair.

Just wanted to let you know that I cornered a Lycee construction worker this morning after drop off. I needed more info. Yes, we received Mr Theze's letter last week, but your posting yesterday (and the obs. article) made me want to know more.

This guy was working on finishing up the auditorium, but he seemed to know a bit about the small gym problem. I guess the way the sub levels of the building were 'sealed' during construction could create a problem of the materials not being able to 'breathe'?? There you have it.

On another note, the Observer article was kind of full of shit how it 'set the scene' at last Saturday's spring fair. There wasn't a single chef in a toque serving up crepes or any darn thing. Just volunteer moms (French yes, but of many many other nationalities too) helping out by serving food at a fun family style fund raiser.
