So how does the books biz pay nowadays? Pretty well, it seems, if you remember the headline-grabbing attempt by literary power couple Jonathon Safran Foer and Nicole Krauss to take over the throne of Park Slope by moving into its grand castle. Times have also been good to memoirist/human narcotics encyclopedia James Frey, who just purchased a 2,000-square-foot Soho condo for $2.55 million, the Observer's Michael Calderone reports.
Frey, author of "A Million Little Pieces" and the upcoming "My Friend Leonard," leaves behind his 1,800-square-foot Tribeca loft for the new digs, in a glass-sheathed building featuring?among other amenities?a pet spa and "Zen-like rock garden." Therapeutic! The three-bed, three-bath former sponsor unit has yet to be lived in.
