Speaking of WTC shenanigans, it looks like the closer finally got the job done. Jennifer Steinhauer reports in the Times that Goldman Sachs has been lured back into the Lower Manhattan development fold, agreeing to build a $2 billion headquarters across the street from the WTC site?with construction potentially starting in 2008. If you recall, Goldman Sachs pulled out of previous plans to build because of safety or tunnel concerns or some other bullshit. Well, it looks like their cocktease worked, because the city and state basically let Goldman Sachs have its way with them to get the deal done. And then they cooked him a turkey dinner, fetched him a cold one, took out the trash and neglected to mention their desire to snuggle (just a little before falling asleep, you know?).
