First look at a new hotel planned for the corner of Grand and Bowery, with design by Roart Architects. Some archibabble: "Our challenge was to add four floors to the existing four-story building originally built in 1923... Inspired by Paul Klee?s painting 'Signs in Yellow' and projecting the structural changes, the three faces of the building are a composition of harmony and tension, a colorful landscape of steel and glass." All this, and it makes a cool noise when you rub it. Completion in 2007.
