More Unbuilt Blues: Why Harlem Park is Languishing

Hotel delays aren't just for the downtown crowd. In Harlem, plans for the mixed-use Harlem Park announced a year ago (which includes a 204-room Marriott) are stalled. Yeah, we noted that earlier this week. (Remember that gorgeous photo of an empty parking lot on 125th Street? Yep, that one.) But now more backstory emerges by way of Crain's: "A groundbreaking ceremony with Gov. George Pataki and Mayor Michael Bloomberg took place last February, but nothing has happened since... Many in the community believe that the developer, Majic Development Group, lacks the financing to begin work." Ooof.
