Broker Promises to Stare Down Your Tomatoes

The pretty mug pushing a picture of his pretty mug is none other than Halstead broker Eric Janssen, apparently the first New York City broker to advertise on shopping carts (and thus fulfilling a lifelong dream, we're sure). NYT scribe Joyce Cohen saw the ad in a Food Emporium on 68th Street, so she got to the bottom of the story for The Walk-Through. The dude has been doing it for around two-and-a-half years, paying around $5,800 every six months. Others have followed his lead, including three other Halstead brokers and one each at Elliman and Corcoran. Says Janssen: "It is more about branding and becoming noticed." And creeping out all the small children who ride in shopping carts, of course.
