The always terrific Starts and Fits draws our attention to the corner of 123rd Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Harlem, where a new development is set to rise on the former site of the Dwyer Warehouse. The warehouse (above left) had fallen into disrepair but was in the process of residential rejuvenation until a worker fell to his death inside the building and the city ordered the shell demolished. The new development, The Dwyer, earns points for hewing to the design tenets of the demolished warehouse. Starts and Fits is particularly pleased: "It will be great to see life at the northeast corner of 123rd Street and St. Nicholas Avenue for the first time in many years, especially when it comes in the form of a mixed-use, infill building that fortifies the street wall."
