Curbed BuildingSpotter Answers: Riverside 'Brick'

So this one didn't quite light you on fire; still, we got two correct responses: The squarish brick tower is the Riverside Tower Hotel at Riverside Drive and 80th St. You can get a room there for under $100, but don't expect much, at least according to some TripAdvisor comments: "Cheap but not cheerful," "We were horrified," and "Stay away." The place also sustained a fire back in May. Built in 1927 as an apartment hotel, the 17-story building is located within a mini-historic district of row houses from the 1890s, and as of a several years ago, the hotel still had more than a dozen rent-regulated tenants living among its 120 rooms.
