Hark! Is That 50 Million Dollars We Hear?

In his Gimme Shelter column today, Braden Keil closes the loop on the record-breaking sale of the Harkness Mansion at 4 East 75th Street. First throught to be around $46 million (which would have just topped the $45 million single-residence record), the purchase price actually turned out to be a whopping $53 million. Yes, friends, the elusive $50 million mark has been topped, and the final price was just two million below the original crazy asking price. The buyer has also been named, and it's this dude?finance honcho J. Christopher Flowers, #322 on the Forbes 400 with an estimated worth of $1.2 billion. The sale closed last Friday, which means we're all going trick-or-treating at Chris's house. Gold bars for everyone!
