Maybe you remember the Ask Curbed query about the lease renewal with the typo that resulted in a big discount and whether the management company was obligated to honor it if the lease was signed? A number of you advised signing the lease and seeing what happened. So, here's the follow up:
I went for the 2 year lease renewal on my rent stabilized apartment for the cheap rent that they mistakenly typed in. When I got back the signed form, they had whited out their mistake and scribbled in the "correct" rent amount. The DHCR guy said I should follow a complaint that they amended the signed lease, but it may be opening a hornets nest of trouble. Trying to decide how to proceed.Suggestions?
