Incredible Shrinking Synagogue Update: Field of Brick

Changing vistas on Rivington Street this morning, where the cheap-ass plywood fence that's separated the site of the demolished First Roumanian Synagogue has been dismantled overnight. In its absence, the site reveals itself as a field of disintegrated brick, the perfect spot, it appears, for a pick-up ultimate Frisbee game. Step lively, though, as it looks like workers are about to put up a new, industrial-grade metal barrier.

No further word on the property's sale since the CurbedWire report from two weeks back that the site is quietly back on the market via Besen and Associates for $14 million.
