Here's an age-old renter question, but one we've seemingly never tackled at Ask Curbed:
We are having a hard time getting our management company to do repairs in our apartment. The shower from the apartment above us is leaking into our bathroom and closet in the bedroom. The ceiling is full of visible black mold and is probably a few weeks away from starting to fall in chunks. We have been told the leak has been fixed upstairs, but we are still seeing water.Fans as we are of visible black mold, this shall not stand. Tactics? We have gotten no response from the management company after sending a certified letter and many phone calls requesting repair of the leak and the ceiling. Is it time to bring in an attorney or are there any other options that would not involve paying a lawyer? Thanks!
