The Man Behind The Lord's Vision

Caught in the uproar over Baron Foster of Thames Bank's planned Madison Avenue apartment tower is the developer behind the project. Aby Rosen, developer, collector, socialite, has bought and renovated landmarks like Lever House, the Seagram Building and the Gramercy Park Hotel and is trying to do the same at the Parke-Bernet Gallery. But as the community has attacked the project, Rosen has called out the big guns, calling on socialities and art scene bigs like fashion designer Tory Burch, Jeff Koons, Ronald Perelman and Dr. Patricia Wexler for support. This group has written letters of support for the project and even attended the Landmarks hearing to testify (the horror, the horror). Rosen is also distancing himself from traditional developers who buy classic buildings and tear them down, saying, "I am taking something that is there and I'm making it better."
