Calatrava 'Full of [Deluded] Hope' at 80 South St.

A Curbed tipster sends along this photo, captioned thusly: "Where's the Calatrava? As near as I can figure, 80 South Street should be smack in the middle of this picture... but I don't see Calatrava's tower. They got a building permit (which must have been no mean feat)."

Yes, what of our aging obsession, 80 South Street, the Tower O' Penthouses, priced from $29 million each? Fortune cornered architect Santiago Calatrava and asked him:

"It is a dream I hope I can realize," he replied, adding that "it is one of the most beautiful things I've ever done. I have a wonderful client and I hope we can build it. It is a wonderful location. He wants to do something different. He wants to deliver something very special. We are very close, and I am full of hope we will start it."So, in other words—units still available.
